My top monday songs

Everyone knows what Monday means. It is the beginning of a new week and a new episode in our lives. No one really likes that day, neither do I to be honest. It means that the weekend has passed and sent us plummeting into new worries, stress and a lot of work. It is that day that is so close to Friday that makes us grumble under out breath in agitation. How to make it better? The answer is relatively easy for me; music. I can’t promise you will be familiar with any of these songs, but I do wish you could listen to them and they might actually be the cure to that dreadful Monday complex

The first song on my list is called “When you were young” and the band is the Killers. I accidentally came across it a while back and instantly fell in love. I don’t value it for lyrics that much, but instead I was amazed with the melody. It comes off as soothing, thus calming any anxiety you may feel at that moment. Most of you won’t see it that way, but I can say with certainty that it is my favorite song. I can listen to it all day and I won’t get fed up with it.

Next up is “Remember the name” by Fort Minor. Now, this song is the complete opposite of the previous one. The melody and music are quite mediocre, which puts the lyrics into focus. The moral of it is that you can have all the talent in the world but without effort and hard work it is all in vain. A good reminder before you start a new week, don’t you think?

Then comes Will. I. Am. With “The travel song”. This comes off as odd, but it talks about finding your true self. If you manage to do that and adapt to any situation without losing your own essence, than only the sky is your limit. I rarely show any affection towards this particular artist, but I just love what he did with this one. The music, however, gets annoying around the chorus but the rest is good enough.

30 seconds to Mars are a fantastic revelation. They are a relatively new band, but unlike most of those n00bs they are true artists. Their lyrics have meaning and their videos are imaginative and provocative with just a hint of the unreal. The most amazing fact is that they accomplished it entirely with their music and not the appearance. They aren’t vulgar nor savage and that’s why I like them so much.
The two songs you should listen to are “The kings and queens” from the new album and “From yesterday” of their old one. Kings and queens send a very clear message to everyone. You rule your own destiny, you make your own choices and no one has the right to take that away from you. From yesterday warns us not to look back on our mistakes and that every trouble and misfortune passes with time.

All of this brings me to the next artist; Kings of Leon. I’ve just recently discovered them and they have thrilled me. Many of their songs are amazing, yet I have only one to point out: Closer. I can only describe it as haunting. The melody crawls into your mind and refuses to leave. One verse made a special impression on me: “ Do you think of me? Where am I now? Baby where do I sleep? Feels so good but I’m old, 2000 years of chasing taking its toll.” Honestly I can’t explain why, but I see a warning in that. A person should know when to give up. You would have to listen to it if you wish to know what I meant by that.

Gary Jules – Mad world. It’s a calm song with high emphasis on lyrics. The man tries to explain the world to us. Even if we think we have a true friend we can feel alone and that is the worst type of loneliness. He also says that the world is a beautiful place if we know how to look at it. That is a message all of us should remember.

Now, Rise up from Yives Larock is like a mood booster for me. I detest listening to it when I feel lousy, but it always manages to uplift my mood. If I play it on Monday I’ll always be cheerful no matter what horrors lie ahead.

I’ve never paid any attention to movie soundtracks, but lately, I discover a lot of promising songs in them. This one is from the movie Desperado and it’s called “Back to the house”. It is a song of a well known soundtrack band Tito and the Tarantula. They did quite a few songs, but before this I hadn’t heart of them. This particular song has such a relaxing melody accompanied with his mellow yet beautiful voice. I was honestly thrilled once I came across the song. The acoustic guitar really sets the mood of the song and the rest just blends into it perfectly.

The last song I wanted to point out is portrayed by Muse and it’s called “Undisclosed desires”. This song doesn’t really follow the old school style of Muse but his voice in it is amazing. No moral is detectable within it, but I find it very inspirational and sometimes inspiration is all we need

I did pick a few mediocre songs, but the selection is entirely based on my own opinion and feeling. There is only one conclusion to this whole essay. If you know how to pick a song it can cheer you up, it can comfort you, it can excite you. Either way, it is up to you to pick the right one.
